Maureen Denise McCormick, the sole child from Richard McCormick and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. Her parents were her mother, who was an housewife, and her father who was a teacher. Michael Dennis and Kevin are three of her older brothers. McCormick is always a fan of dancing, singing and performing performances with puppets. When she was just six years old, young, she took home an award in the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley pageant. Pat Domigan at Jack Wormser Agency approached her and asked if she would like to enter show business. McCormick got her first big job in 1964 as she acted in a television commercial for Mattels new doll, Baby Pattaburp. Later that year she did another commercial with the company's Chatty Cathy doll and was shortly cast in the musical the play Wind It Up And It is Broken on stage at La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick auditioned for the part of the oldest daughter in the towheaded trio in The Brady Bunch. The show was a collaboration between Florence Henderson, Robert Reed and a new blended family. The show lasted for five years. McCormick's memoir Heres the Story, Surviving Marcia Brady: Finding My True Voice was published in 2008. In it she revealed the fact that McCormick nearly lost her virginity on the set of the series during its fifth season to Barry Williams. She was just 16 when the incident occurred while he was.
